Coach Speak

A new language for a new stat.

“Don’t win the quarter. Win the minute.

The Possession Report measures the game one minute at a time. That gives coaches something they’ve never had — a way to talk to players about the battle in front of them, right now.

Win the minute. Then win the next one.

Every minute on the thermometer is green, red, or yellow — won, lost, or tied by PBiR. So instead of “go win the quarter,” you can coach the only thing a player can actually control: the minute they’re standing in. Here’s how it sounds.

1
“Don’t win the quarter. Win the minute.”
3
“The scoreboard says who won. PBiR says who won each minute.”
5
“Be a green-minute player.”
6
“Win the minute, not the highlight.”
8
“Win the minute in front of you. Trust the next man to win his.”
10
“Green minutes win games.”
11
“We got outscored — but we lost the minutes. That’s coachable.”
13
“Control the minute you’re in.”
15
“The minute war is won in the margins — the box-out, the loose ball, the extra pass.”
16
“Show me the green minutes.”
18
“Forget the quarter. The minute is the new battleground.”
19
“A red minute is a lesson. A green minute is a habit.”
21
“Stack enough green minutes, and the scoreboard takes care of itself.”
23
“Lose a minute? Flush it. Win the next one.”
25
“We measure what you did this minute — not what you meant to do.”
26
“Don’t tell me you played hard. Show me the minutes you won.”
28
“Minutes are currency. Spend them like they matter.”
29
“Be the reason a minute turns green.”
31
“The buzzer just confirms what the minutes already decided.”
32
“If you can’t win the minute, don’t lose it — make it yellow.”
34
“A quarter is ten minutes of war. Win more than you lose.”
35
“Win your minute, and the whole bench feels it.”
37
“Champions don’t win by twenty — they win twenty minutes.”
38
“You don’t rise to the occasion. You sink to your worst minute — so raise the floor.”
40
“Win the boring minutes. That’s where games are won.”
41
“There’s no such thing as a quiet minute.”
